Betty J. Switzer

Betty Jean Switzer, 93, Kokomo, passed away on January 8, 2018 at Community Howard Hospital. Betty was born to Howard and Gertrude (Duty) Nolder on November 19, 1924. She married Donald F. Barr and he preceded her in death. Betty remarried Ollie M. Switzer and he preceded her in death March 1, 1998.

Betty was in the Blue Tri Alpha Sorority and was part of a card club for 50 years. She enjoyed going to the casinos and playing the slot machines and shopping. Betty was considered a mother to many of those she babysat. She was truly the matriarch of the family. She loved to cook and have get togethers with her family.

Betty is survived by her daughter; Sue Barr Yager (deceased husband Frederick), son; Frank L. Switzer, step son; Ollie J. Switzer, half-brothers; Mike Nolder (Colleen), Greg Nolder (Cathy), Wayne Nolder (Marsha), step brother; Dan Coughlin, half-sister Carol Mooney, grandchildren, Mark Yager, Brenda Hopkins (Tomas), Christopher Yager (Amanda), Brad Switzer, Carrey Switzer, Jenny Switzer, Brian Switzer, Kevin Switzer, great grandchildren; Hannah, Shelby, Jacob, Michael, Ashley, Tyler, Breanna, Colin, Caleb, great great grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Jazmyn, Keegan, Adrianah and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Bernard, Edgar and Ralph Nolder, sisters; Stella Massie, Wanda Buckalew, Flora Alwine and step sister Delores Howard.

Services for Betty will be Thursday January 11, 2017 at 12:30pm at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel; 3400 South Webster Street. Friends may visit from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Chaplain Barb Fort will officiate the service.
