

Billy Wayne Hinton, 83, of Kokomo, passed away at 7:05 PM Saturday August 26, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Born May 21, 1934 in Franklin, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Raymond Hinton and Lucille (Borne). On February 18, 1955 in Kokomo, he married Ellen (Roper), and she survives. He was employed with Continental Steel for 26 years; then worked as service manager at Hal-Dar travel trailers for 22 years, before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, NASCAR; was in the Masonic Lodge for years, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of over 62 years, Ellen Hinton of Kokomo; one son Tim (Sherri) Hinton of Kokomo; three daughters Kathy (Gary) Stevenson of Kokomo Debra (Tom) Carmer of Tipton, Kelly (Jim) Hendershot of Russiaville, and; two brothers Carl Hinton of Atlanta, Georgia, Joe Hinton of Knoxville, Tennessee. There are also grandchildren Ryan Cage, Jessica Butler, Brittani Prifogle, Cody Hinton, Aaron Carmer, Jake Hendershot, Andy Stevenson, Sarah McCormick, and Ashley Stevenson; two great grandchildren Cameron and Noah Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Billy Chris Hinton.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Friday September 1, 2017 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor Dan Darling will officiate. Burial will follow at Sharpsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the St. Vincent Foundation C/o Cardiac Rehab Lab-Kokomo. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
