Obituary of Carma Jean (Lawrence) Keown
Carma Jean Keown, 81, of Windfall went home to be with her Lord November 15, 2019 in her home with her children at her side. She was born October 29, 1938 to William and Lilly Beth (Davis) Lawrence in Stoddard County, Sexton, Missouri. Carma graduated from Windfall High School in 1954 and went on to earn her beautician’s license, and later, became the second lady in the state of Indiana to become a licensed mechanic. She married Elder Keown in July of 1964 and together they raised their family in Windfall. In addition to working at Haynes International for more than 30 years, she and Elder owned and operated several filling stations in both Kokomo and Windfall. She also ran and maintained a working farm and raised her family, being the sole caregiver to her grandmother, mother, brother and husband as they aged and fell ill. Carma was the glue of the family, keeping them all together. Even after retiring from Haynes, she never quit working, she became an in home health care worker out of Tipton Hospital. Carma was a nurturer, always wanting to care for others before herself, always sharing the light of the Lord with those around her. Carma was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Carma is survived by her children, Danny Turner and Beth Draper; grandchildren, Danny E., Billy B, Alissha K., Jacob A. and Tommy L.; great grandchildren, Danny M., Chris, Seth, Shayna L, Jackson and Hayden; and one great great granddaughter.
