

Carolyn E. Donovan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt of Kokomo passed away at 9:09 AM Tuesday May 21, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her children. Born in Monroe City, she was the daughter of the late Edward Stibbins and Nelle (Lamb) Stibbins. She graduated from Burris High School in Muncie in 1941. She then graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1945 with majors in Business Education and Home Economics. On July 28, 1948 in Muncie, she married Richard W. Donovan, and he preceded her in death December 2014. She received her MA from Ball State Teachers College in 1950. She taught at Gilead, Chili, and Monroeville schools for 15 years; then substituted at Kokomo Center Schools and surrounding schools from 1978-1997. She was a member of Psi Iota Zi Sorority, Sigma Delta Epsilon Peru Chapter, Gamma Gamma Sorority, retired teachers of Howard County, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her bridge clubs, Ball State group, walking mall friends, family activities, and travel.
Surviving are two sons Patrick Donovan of Kokomo, Terry (Beth) Donovan of Brookston; Vicki (Greg)Butcher of Golden, CO, Kristi (David) Wright of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren Kimberly, Kevin, Kenneth, Kyle, and Ryan; five great grandchildren Brenna, Logan, Maddox, Colton, and Addison. Also close family friend Jon Bolke of Kokomo. She has many loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Dr. Warren Stibbins; one sister Suzanne Dupouy.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 West Jefferson Street, Kokomo. Pastor Jerry Van Auken will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Kokomo Humane Society with envelopes available at the church.
