Carolyn Sue Hand

Carolyn Sue Hand, age 80, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was born to Tom and Mary (Stokes) Simmons on January 5, 1943 in Kokomo, where she lived all her life. She attended Kokomo High School. She had 4 children during her lifetime. She worked for General Motors on the production line for nearly 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed shopping and adding to her beautiful jewelry collection. She loved to take spontaneous day trips without any particular destination. Maybe you'd end up in Evansville or Ft. Wayne, you never knew! Every month she would get together with her best friends, Nancy, Sherry, Becky and Rhonda to go out to eat or go on a shopping adventure. She was a firecracker that enjoyed arguing, but had a big heart, and was very kind and generous.

Sue is survived by her husband Art Hand; her children, Mary (Brad) Roller, Shelly (Buck) Breen and Lisa (Dave) Shepherd; siblings, Tommy Joe (Polly) Simmons, Bill Simmons, Donna (Dave) Shuck; grandchildren, Trelanie (Dan) Weirauch, Toria (John) Adams, Joshua (Jen) Shepherd, DJ (Alisa) Shepherd, Bethany (Chad) Wheeler, Cortney Lathrop and Taylor (Jason) Rink and Tyler (Macey) Powell; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mary; her daughter, Kimberly Powell; her late husband, Clarence Gilvin; and her grandson, Dalton Powell.

A memorial celebration for Sue will be announced at a later date.
