Cathy Jo House

August 3, 1952June 12, 2019

Cathy Jo (Morrison) House, 66, of Kokomo passed away Wednesday, June 12 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1952 to Robert Morrison and Bernice (Easter) Collins.

On March 15, 1969 Cathy married the love of her life, James House, and together they raised two wonderful children. While she worked outside the home as a retail manager, her main focus was her family. Cathy loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren fiercely, treating each with a special, individual bond. Her family recalls her as hard working and generous; always willing to do anything for anyone in need. She vacationed frequently with Jimmy, always remembering to bring special treats home to everyone. Cathy never quit, even when things got rough, and you could always count on her to bring a smile to your face in the worst of times. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and making candies, making biscuits and gravy often for the family and pumpkin rolls at Christmastime. Cathy loved to play BINGO and visit the casinos. But nothing mattered more to her than her family. Cathy was the epitome of a mother’s love. In addition to her blood family, she had many, many “adopted” children and grandchildren. Cathy was “everybody’s Mamaw”. She was deeply loved and will be missed.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Jimmy; children, Scott (Debby) House, and Tami House; mother, Bernice Collins; brother, Robert (Christina) Morrison; grandchildren, Tara (Brittany), Corey, Britton (Jonathon), Brittony, Mercedez (Mason), Arian and Uriah; great grandchildren, Shaylee, Kylee, Braden, Nolan and Ryland; two nieces and a nephew; and many friends she considered family.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Morrison; stepfather, Clenia Collins; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Marjorie House.

The family will be planning a Celebration of Life for a later date. It has been the privilege of the staff at Sunset Memory Garden to assist with arrangements.
