

Charlene Elizabeth Miller, 77, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010, at North Woods Village skilled nursing facility, in Kokomo, after fighting a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure. She was born November 29, 1932, in Logansport, the daughter of John and Ruth Small. On December 24, 1959, at Grace Methodist Church Chapel, Kokomo, she married Delmer G. Miller, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1984, in a double wedding ceremony with dear friends Eileen G. Patmore and Gilbert L. Thomas.
Charlene graduated from Washington Township High School, class of 1950 and retired from Delco Electronics. Charlene was an accomplished musician with skills on the piano and organ, and often was the featured singer in churches and weddings. She passed on her love of music to her sons, who are professional musicians on the guitar and saxophone. She was also an expert in designing and creating custom draperies, owning her own business, Charlene Miller Draperies, for 35 years. In her later years, she took on several apprentices, passing on her skills and love of drapery design. Charlene enjoyed crafts, music, reading, spending time with family and friends, and loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart.
She is survived by her two sons, Greg Miller, North Richland Hills, Texas, and Todd Miller, Kokomo; one sister, Joan Plank, Walton; and one granddaughter, Sydni Miller.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Tom and Bill Small.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
