

Charles E. Powell, 90, Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born December 22, 1919, to Ralph E. and Mary M. (Richison) Powell. He married Helen L. Gunther, in Jeffersonville, on September 25, 1959, and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2004.
He worked at General Motors for 28 years, retiring in 1981. He was an avid gardener and loved bowling. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He is survived by six nieces, Janet (Lloyd) Mikesell, Kokomo, Virginia Brooker, Kokomo, Jane Butler, Lima, Peru, Barbara Orem, Toledo, Ohio, and Joy Fouch, Kokomo, and Loretta Arnett, Kokomo; and one nephew, John D. Gunther, Michigan.
In addition to his wife, Helen Powell, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Walter Shannon; one sister, Georgia Messer; and two brothers, William E. Shannon, and Ralph Powell.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Tim Lykins officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
