Danny Joe Haworth Sr.

Danny Joe Haworth, Sr. went to be with his Heavenly Father at 3:10 a.m. on August 17, 2010 at Saint Elizabeth Central in Lafayette. He was born in Kokomo, IN on September 2, 1940 to Thomas and Cecil Haworth.

He married Sharon Sweeney, the love of his life, on January 18, 1959. Dan along with his wife started Dan’s Variety Bakery on May 1, 1975.

Everyone reaped the benefits of his wonderful donuts and pastries. Many dozen donuts found their way on trips all over the country! If you were visiting someone from Kokomo, they always requested Dan’s.

In 1999, he entered into politics, seeking and being elected to the Kokomo Common Council. With his quiet demeanor and love of his community, he enjoyed the respect of all he served with. Dan loved Kokomo and wanted to make it a better place for everyone who lived here.

Danny enjoyed all sports, including IU, the Cubs, and the Colts. He coached Little League at east side and Connie Mack. He also sponsored many little league teams throughout the years in Kokomo.

He is survived by his wife Sharon and children: Vicki Griggs, Dan Jr. and Vicki, Donnie, Jeff and Sheila, Rhonda, Brian Haworth and Faye Mak, Kimber and Mike Brown.

Grandchildren include; D. Joe and Misty Griggs, Amber Griggs, Zach, Kerry, and Brittany Haworth, Caleb McKee and Caitlyn Haworth, Nicholas and Brianna Mak, Stephanie Conner and Ben King. Great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Kaly, and Delany, Christian, Gavin, and Abby.

Brothers: Tom Haworth, Richard Haworth, and Sister: Nancy Stalter.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and son-in-law: Dan Griggs.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20th at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences to the family my be made at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
