

Dea Kay Reeves, 71, passed away on October 6, 2017 at Howard Community West Hospital. Dea was born on June 13, 1946 to Joseph Donald and Dorothy (Colescott) Kendall in Kokomo, Indiana. Dea was a graduate of Montpellier High School in Indiana. She met the love of her life, Stephen Thompson, while working together at Duke Energy. He has been like a husband to her for 38 years.
Dea was very involved in Relay For Life and the Special Olympics, as well as other organizations. She and Steve enjoyed camping throughout the United States, fishing in Gulf Shores in the winter, crappie fishing in the spring in Alabama, and attending Nascar. Most of all, Dea loved to sit around the campfire at night. She was a very good cook, and also loved to read. Dea enjoyed life, being with her grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
Dea is survived by her husband, Stephen Thompson; son Lee (Becky) Reeves; sister Doris A. Morris; brother Dale K. Halliday; brother-in-law Peter (Sherry) Thompson; grandchildren Joeseph and Sarah Reeves; great-grandchild Anthonie Reeves; and special friends Sarah and Rick Bender; and several nieces and nephews.
Dea is preceded in passing by her parents, Joseph Donald and Dorothy Kendall; and parents-in-law James and Dorothy Thompson.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday October 11 at Ellers Webster Street Chapel. A memorial service will follow visitation at 6:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Barbara Tranbarger.
