Derek Matthew Hanley

Derek Matthew Hanley, age 35, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. Derek was born August 1, 1986 to Lewis "Rick" Richard and Robbin Renee (Martin) Hanley in Kokomo. He was formerly married to Shannon (Doors) Hanley on August 1, 2012 and she survives. Derek graduated from Kokomo High School in 2006. After graduation, he worked at Top of the Line Auto detailing and in maintenance until he could no longer work due to illness. He loved playing pool, fishing with his dad, tinkering around the house and being with his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Allayna, Bryan, and Amara; sisters, Ashley (Erick) Carmona, Sheena (Joe Wheeler) Hanley, and Heather Vanmeter; brother, Kerry (Jill) Hanley; special companion, Christina Yard; grandparents, William and Crystal Clark; uncle, Jeff Martin, of Royal Center; aunts, Martina Hanley, of New Port Richey, FL, Becky Miller, of Crawfordsville, Rita (Roger) White, of Fort Myers, FL., Kim Roe, of Kokomo, and Melissa (Ryan) Redding, of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lena Hall; brother-in-law, Brad Vanmeter; aunt, Debbie Pappas, uncles, Jeffrey Hanley, and Ray Martin Jr.; maternal grandparents, Clifford (Carol) Martin; grandparents, Harold and Rosemary Hoover; paternal grandfather, Lewis R. Hanley; and grandmother, LaVera Aaron. There will be a Celebration of Life for Derek on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at 4:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo.
