Diane Sue Rudy, born July 23, 1953 in Chicago Illinois to the late Bart and Gladys Myers went to be with her Savior, Monday, December 23, 2019 at St Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She married John Rudy on July 12, 1975 in Chicago.
Sue earned her BA in Education from Wheaton College and a MA from Laverne University in Developmental Therapy. She taught preschool, managed the nursery and taught Sunday School for many years at First Presbyterian Church. In later years she attended Oakbrook Church.
She was a dedicated teacher all of her life and spent the last 17 years of her career teaching elementary school at Kokomo's Pettit Park. She had a great passion and special love for her children, especially for those who struggled with school. She had a special rapport with children and young people, and her love and strong values touched so many young lives.
Being a mother and a grandmother was a calling to her that gave her great joy. She took great delight in each of her boys and then when her daughter was born, her joy was complete. Having the whole family together was the epitome of her happiness for her. She cherished her grandchildren and loved every minute that she was able to be with them at home or on trips.
Her faith in God and her trust in Jesus was foundational to who she was. Even through the many struggles of her life and through more recent health challenges, her faith never wavered. She passed that faith and those values on to so many. Sue became a second "mom" to many young people.
She will be remembered fondly by the many whose lives she touched, and will be greatly missed.
Surviving Sue is her husband John, children David Rudy, Michael Rudy (Kayla), Claire Rudy, grandchildren Reese, Miles, and Samuel Rudy.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and brothers Charles Myers and William Myers.
A Celebration of Sue's life will take place at 3pm, Monday December 30, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel. There will be a gathering following the service with hors d'oeuvres if you wish to visit with the family beginning at 4pm.
The family extends a thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Vincent Kokomo. If you wish to leave a contribution in Sue's memory, please due so towards St Vincent Kokomo or the Gilead House.
