

Kokomo resident Dorothy H. Fallon, 89, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 after a battle with cancer. She was born October 26, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to Edward and Mary Herleth. She graduated from St. James Elementary and Forrest Hills High School. She worked for the New Jersey Telephone Company in Queens, New York. She married John F. Fallon August 26, 1956 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Forrest Hills, New York, and made their home in South Plainfield, New Jersey. John and Dorothy were married for 46 years before his passing. She was a homemaker for many years and an employee of the South Plainfield School System for seven years. She was a member of The Sacred Heart Society and President of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was president of Cedarcroft Middle School PTA, President of South Plainfield High School PTA, was Girl Scout troop leader, and taught religious education.
Dorothy and John retired to Kokomo, Indiana. She was a volunteer at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital for 21 years and served on their advisory committee.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Nancy L. Hiss and her husband (Charles), Judith F. Kernel and her husband (Kevin), Susanne M. Fallon, and Joanne C. Mitrano and her husband (Franco) of South Plainfield, NJ. She is survived by five grandchildren, Timothy and his fiance (Brynn Conway) and Claire Bilavsky, Megan Hiss and her husband (Matthew Young), Amanda and Christopher Fallon, and her nephew Scott Payne and his wife (Karen).
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four siblings, and her son Keith J. Fallon.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11:15 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kokomo, IN. A visitation will take place prior to Mass at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
