Dorothy "Dotty" Esther McDermott

Dorothy married Leo McDermott on June 30, 1972 and together they built a life serving the Lord before his passing in 2017. They went on many overseas mission trips. Dorothy was always generous especially when it came to giving to the church and missionaries. She occasionally asked her family "Who is going to take care of the missionaries when I am gone?" and eventually she was satisfied with an answer, "The Lord will provide".

Dorothy worked at a children's home for many years and then went on to be a director at Child Evangelism Fellowship until she married Leo, who had lost his wife. She did her best to remain in contact with her students throughout the years.

Dorothy is survived by her children Michael (Cathy) McDermott, Andrew (Anne) McDermott, and Sara (Randal) George; grandchildren Adam (Mary) McDermott, Rachelle (Kyle) Chapman, Hannah (Jared) Treadway, Aaron McDermott, Abigail (Nicholas) Armstrong, Austin (Hannah) McDermott, Meredith (Benjamin) Green, Megan (Lance) Rao, and Fida George; brother Richard (Avis) Norman, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Dorothy is preceded in death by two brothers Dwight Norman and Ed Norman.

The family would like to thank the ladies that assisted her in her last days including Krystal, June, Rita, and Sylvia.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bible Baptist Church, 2635 S. Dixon Road, Kokomo, IN 46902, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. A livestream of the service can be viewed at https://youtube.com/live/TDrGsL231_Y
