

Dorothy C. Tate, 87, Kokomo, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at her home. She was born July 8, 1924, in Gravel Switch, Kentucky, to Albert and Dicie (Chandler) Wilkerson. On November 15, 1941, she married Wallace “Bob” Tate, and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2005.
She was a wonderful person to everyone and a loving wife and mother. She attended Center Grove Baptist Church. She was a very special person and will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by two sons, Steven (Diana) Tate, Kokomo, and Jerry (Sandy) Tate, Tipton; two daughters, Joyce (John) Powell, Kokomo, and Judy (Edward) Matson, Kokomo; 15 grandchildren, Jeffery Powell, Brian Powell, Gregory Powell, Russell Powell, Tim Garner, Amy Garner, Lisa Johnson, Christina Matson, Cara Trine, Jamnis Tate, Justin Tate, Randy Tate, Kari Badgley, Daniel Tate, and Joe Tate; 31 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert (Betty) Wilkerson, Kentucky; two sisters, Nancy Totman, Kentucky, and Ruby (James) Edwards, Kokomo; and her special “kids”, Sugar and Missy.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two great-grandchildren; Michael Paul Badgley, and Kaylee Badgley; two brothers, W.O. Wilkerson and Jim Wilkerson; and two sisters, Lillian Wheeler and Wilma Jean Wilkerson.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor James Sharber officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society.
