

Ethel Aileen Hope, 96, Kokomo, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at North Woods Village. She was born January 18, 1916, in Peru, to Noah Elmer and Jennie (Blair) Murphy. On October 2, 1943, she married James P. Hope, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2005.
She graduated from Peru High School in 1934 and Kokomo Business College in 1947. She worked for the Public Service Company of Indiana in Noblesville and was the Electrolux Representative in Kokomo for 20 years. She served as a WAVES in the United States Navy during World War II from February 1943 to June 1945 in Washington D.C. and at Grissom Air Base. She was a member of Tri Kappa and Chapel Hill Christian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sue (Joe) Jenkins, Russiaville, and Deborah Fipps, Sarasota, Florida; five grandchildren, Charity Fipps, Stephany (Travis) Dishon, Ashley Fipps, Josie (Chad) O’Neal, and James Jenkins; and one great-grandchild, Nathiah.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one sister; and one son-in-law, Kevin Fipps.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Allen officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Hill Christian Church.
