Ferd was viewed by many of our customers as one of their favorite employees at Gordon Food Service. We constantly got surveys that came back acknowledging Ferd for his friendliness and his ability to make everyone feel important and valued. He received countless "Raving Fan" awards for this in the store. He was so like-able and easy to talk to and I had countless great conversations with him. He was so excited when Hollywood came out with a movie named after him (Ferdinand)! :) He adored his family and his church. He loved life, he loved others. he loved his country, and most importantly he loved God. I was his "boss" at GFS, but I also considered him my friend and I am a better man for having know him. As the days go by I will truly miss him but his spirit and memory will still be a continuing part of my life.

My friend, I will never forget your laughter and smile during our days at Nyack. All who knew you have been blessed by it. See you when we get home.

Got to know Officer Gavina for a very short while and got to see him grow into becoming a great Officer at Miami Correctional, and also became a great friend and brother on the job. We always will remeber him at Miami Correctional. Rest easy brother we got it from here, until we meet again.

Pete and I wish to share our sympathies with the Gavina family. Ferd officiated our wedding almost eighteen years ago and he and Barb have been my best of friends for much longer then that. Ferd will be missed by so many.

We met Ferd through our termanly I'll sister, she always spoke so highly of him and his Church she went to. When Paula was I'll he made it his mission to visit anytime she was receiving visitors and to do duets with his son and guitar which was a welcomed blessing. Thank you Ferd for all you did. God got another angel.

Ferd was always up for a challenge! He took Jesus seriously and stood up for what he believed. We so enjoyed being his youth leaders
and still can't believe he is gone. Barbara, we are praying for you and your kids. Trusting God will hold you all in the hollow of His hand.

I first met FERD at the TOPS class in Williamson WV. We connected immediately because my husband and I were Ordained Ministers. My first impression of him was his love for people and his humor.
He later invited us to Minister at his church. My husband became close friends with FERD, he joined the Ministerial Association and I became Chaplain at ARH Hospital because of his inspiration. I will truly miss him, but I know that he would not want to come back after being in the Presence of His Lord. May you Rest In Peace my Brother.

I knew Ferd from Nyack College 30+ years ago. I was so sad to hear this news, but envious that his faith is now sight. He with all of God's redeemed people awaits the resurrection, though he waits now in a different and better place. God give you rest, Ferd. The Great Day is coming.
