Gayla devoted her life to caring for others as a surgical nurse, serving at both St. Joe Hospital and Howard Community Surgery Center during her career. Her faith was central to her life; she was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she joyfully taught Sunday school and led Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jim Lemke, who cared for her tenderly until the very end; daughters Julie Klepinger (Tony) and Jackie Weaver (Rick); and her cherished grandchildren Reese and Reagan Klepinger, and Cali, Mya, and Adeline Weaver. Gayla is also survived by her siblings, Gerri Voreis and Gary Voreis.
Gayla found joy in decorating, collecting antiques, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to family and faith will be remembered forever.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran School or Kokomo Rescue Mission. There will be a time of visitation for Gayla on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 705 East Southway Blvd., Kokomo, IN 46902.
