Obituary of Glen Carl Hamren
Glen Carl Hamren passed into the loving arms of God on Father’s Day, June 19, 2022. Glen was born on April 2, 1930 in Wright, Minnesota. He grew up in a close, musical family where he spent much of his time feeding the family’s chickens and cows, chopping wood for the kitchen stove, cleaning barns, and hauling 5 gallon buckets of water to the house throughout the heat of summer and the cold of northern Minnesota winters. He also enjoyed a wide variety of activities including photography, painting, gardening, and playing the guitar and piano. He loved swimming, fishing, and hiking in the summer, and skiing and ice fishing in the winter. After graduating from high school as the class salutatorian he served his country as an Army communications chief during the Korean War. He earned the rank of staff sergeant. Glen then attended The Milwaukee School of Engineering. While in Milwaukee, he met and then married his lovely wife and companion, Maureen Stauff, in 1959. Glen spent his professional career as an electrical engineer working on the Mace and Titan ballistic missile systems, helping to develop the guidance system for Apollo space capsules, working on the Skylab space station, and helping to develop sonar to detect enemy submarines. He later spent time developing engine controls for Delco Electronics. He retired as a Senior Project Engineer in Advanced Automotive Electronics development and was awarded multiple patents. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jennie and Carl, his brothers, Terry in 1965, Leonard in 1968, Kenneth in 1971, Larry in 2019, and his wife Maureen and grandson, Jason Goodnight in a tragic automobile accident in 1989. Glen is survived by his special companion for the last 28 years, Darlene Krieger. They attended church together, traveled extensively, and shared many good times with family and friends. Glen was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church. He is also survived by his beloved children; Thomas (Kim), Diane (Dallas) Warner, David (Nancy), Kathryn Moss, and Laura (Shane) Campbell; 14 grandchildren, Zachary (Sarah) Hamren, Dustin (Jenn) Hamren, Corey (Shelley) Hamren, Ben Hamren, Amanda (Brian) Ingwell, Greg Warner, Steven Hamren, Bryan (Chunyi) Hamren, Keith Hamren, Megan Moss, Adam Moss, Melissa Moss, Ethan Campbell and Austin Campbell, and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Pandre Stauff and Donna (Buz) Hahn; his brother Kenneth's children, Gale (Richard) Thuermer and family, and Linda Hamren and family, goddaughter Susan Gattle, and many other nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved by his family who are thankful to have had him as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, and example of faith. We will all truly miss Glen and are proud to carry so many of his positive attributes and characteristics with us in our own lives. There will be a time of visitation for Glen on Sunday, June 26 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at 4:00 P.M. at Christ Lutheran Church, 3401 South Dixon Rd., Kokomo. The Rev.
