

Glenell Elizabeth Coffey, 79, of Kokomo, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at her residence. Glenell was born on February 10, 1938 in Wilkinsburgh, PA to the late John Richard and Lucile Emily (LaPointe) Hamilton. She married James Sherwood Coffey on June 7, 1958 in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2005.
Glenell graduated from Kokomo High School in 1956. She worked as a telephone operator throughout the years for Indiana Bell, Union Bank, and Hook’s Drug Store. Glenell was very active in the community and served on many organizations. She was a charter member and past president of the Sunshine Home Demonstration Club, Pack secretary for Cub Scouts Pack #3500 at Lafayette Park School, Past Matrons Club for the Order of the Eastern Star #89, Member of Dorcas shrine #13 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Majority Member and Past Guardian Secretary of Bethel #20 International Order of Jobe Daughters in Kokomo. Glenell was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Kokomo.
Glenell is survived by her two sons, Christopher J. (Cathy) Coffey, Greenwood, and Sean R. Coffey, Kokomo; two granddaughters, Kinsey M. (Nick Swartout) Coffey, Roscoe, IL., and Gracie M. Coffey, South Beloit, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
Glenell is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, James.
The funeral service will be held for Glenell at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street with Pastor Jerry Van Auken officiating. Glenell’s family will be receiving friends for a time of visitation on Friday, January 12 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service, also at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Glenell to First EPC, envelopes will be provided at the mortuary.
