Gloster Jerome "Jerry" Reed, 64, of Kokomo, passed away at 6:45 PM Sunday April 21, 2019 at his residence. Born September 17, 1954 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Robert Milton Reed and Bobbie Jean (Loomis) Reed. On June 6, 1992 in Kokomo he married Monica Marie (Mooney), and she survives. He was employed with the Logansport State Mental Hospital from the late 70's to early 80's. He started his trucking career shortly thereafter from 1986 until 1992. He worked for the City of Kokomo Street Department from 1992 to 2002 as a truck driver. In 2003 he went back to long haul semi truck driving and worked for Syndicate Sales Hurryin' Hoosier until 2018 when he retired. He enjoyed reading, working puzzle books, watching movies, and classic rock. He enjoyed talking with all his trucking friends on the phone everyday.
He is survived by his wife of over 26 years, Monica Marie Reed of Kokomo; two daughters Allison Rhiannon Reed (fiance' Seth Barkman) both of Elkhart, and Courtney Rishelle Reed of Kokomo; one brother Robert E. Reed of Kokomo; one sister Natalie V. Williams of Kokomo; his mother-in-law Roberta Mooney of Kokomo; brother-in-law Michael S. Mooney of Kokomo; sister-in-law Diana E. (Marc) Mishler; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Glenda "Judy" Borden and Tamara M. Vavricka; father-in-law Michael P. Mooney; sister-in-law Kimberly D. Mooney.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Chaplain Doug Slack will officiate. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to Guardian Angel Hospice with envelopes available at the mortuary.
