

Hubert was born on December 9th, 1925 in Lone Mountain, TN to Rufus Haskin and Ocie (Leedy) Johnson.
Hubert married Thelma Ruth King on December 23rd, 1947 in Kokomo, Indiana, who preceded him in death on February 26th, 2003.
He is survived by his children, Roger Johnson, Rhonda Johnson, Michelle Johnson (Bob Appleton), Sandra Johnson, and Kay (Robert) Sanders, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Hubert served in the United States Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946 in Germany earning a Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge and two Bronze Stars. Upon returning from his service he worked at various factories, until starting his career as a truck driver. He retired from Teamsters 135 in 1985. Hubert loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and all the neighborhood children.
He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma, parents Rufus and Ocie, brothers Truman, Frank, and Floyd Johnson, sisters Grace Ogle, Annabee Hatchett, Hattie Kitts, Mattie Brannon, Ressie Plexico, Nel Thomas, Lily Mae, and Maude. He was also preceded by his grandson Jacob Tew and great niece Katie Johnson.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital with envelopes available at the mortuary.
Services will be Saturday June 9th, 2018 at 11:00am at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel. Friends and Family may visit Friday June 8th, 2018 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery.
