James Carl Gray Jr.

James Carl Gray Jr., age 16, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020, at St Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born on May 31, 2003, in Kokomo, the son of Javonne (May) and James Gray Sr. He was known as "JJ" to all who loved him, and he attended McKinley School, where he was in the tenth grade. He had many hobbies, including participating in PAL football. He liked to rap, and had a rap group at one time. JJ liked to draw, and was a wizard at math. He liked reading, and loved telling jokes and making others laugh. He liked spending times with his friends, and he was very loyal to his brothers and sister. Above all else, JJ shall be remembered as a beautiful boy who loved his family dearly and would do anything for them. He is survived by his parents Javonne and James Sr., sister Abriella, brothers LaQuan and Semaj, maternal grandmother, Lauraine Rallings, paternal grandmother, Romenitha Gray, aunts Amber (Eric) Martinson, Akilah Gray and Connie Everett, Uncle Nate Brown; girlfriend Follesha Bogan, and a host of great aunts and uncles, as well as numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Elizabeth May, paternal grandfather, James Brown, great aunt Mimi Ford and great uncle Gregory Durr. Services will be 12:30 PM Saturday January 11, 2020 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor Harry Beard will officiate. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM Saturday at the mortuary.
