Janet Rose (Dowden) Hester

Janet Rose Hester, 80, went on to be with the Lord on April 3rd, 2018. Janet was born to Wilbur and Oletta Dowden on October 15th, 1937 in Oakford, Indiana. She married her husband of 64 years, Clifton Hester, on December 12th, 1953 in their minister’s home. She was his co-pilot. Janet enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and created baby blankets and pillow dolls. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janet and Clifton travelled together to California, Arkansas, and the Niagara Falls. Janet often fished on houseboats in Guntersville, Alabama with her siblings and their family. Janet will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Janet is survived by her husband, Clifton Hester; children Wilbur (Penny) Hester, Clifton (Janet) Hester, Angela (Mike) Harmon, and Roger (Sherry) Hester; her brother Jim (Marlene) Dowden; 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Janet is preceded in passing by her parents, siblings Frank and Larry Dowden, Wanda Stewart, Judy Franklin, Rose Kail, Mary Stover, and Wanetta Martin. Family will receive friends from 4PM to 8PM on Sunday, April 8th at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, April 9th, also at the mortuary. Pastor Herman Gorham will officiate. Memorial contributions can be directed to the family.
