Jerry Lee Burns Jr.

Jerry Lee Burns, Jr., of Kokomo went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 4, 2019 surrounded by his family. Jerry was born in Kokomo October 24, 1962 to Jerry and Shirley (Gillem) Burns. Jerry was a proud American who enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from High School. In 1991 he married Janet Harshman. In the mid 1990’s, Jerry and his brother, who is also his best friend, founded Burns Auto Care in Kokomo, where it continues to thrive today. He was a committed Christian who loved the Lord, attending Bethel Tabernacle as often as he could. When Jerry wasn’t at the shop working, he could be found outside in the garden, or playing in the yard with his grandkids and dog. On nice days, you may see him tooling around town in his 2012 Mustang Shelby, that he loving called his “baby”. But more than anything, he loved his family. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, as well as his wife, Janet, and his siblings. Christmas was his favorite time of year. Jerry was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Jerry is survived by his wife, Janet; mother, Shirley Chalk; brother Gary (Lori) Burns; sisters, Debbie Presley and Sherri (Steve) Martin; daughters, Jennifer, Christina and Natalie; and grandchildren, Cheyenne, Samantha, Conner, Ben and Sara; step brother, Rick Chalk; and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Burns, Sr.; his grandparents; his niece, Stephanie; and his beloved dog Moses. Family will receive friends Thursday, April 11 from 11am – 2pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, with services to follow at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children: 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
