

Jerry Wayne Tolerson, 78, passed away peacefully at his residence, September 4, 2026 in Kokomo, Indiana. Born to Dora and Jesse E. Tolerson Jr, October 2, 1947 in Newport, Arkansas, who preceded him in death. He was the eldest of five children which includes his surviving siblings Janice Tolerson Chaplin of Kennesaw, GA and Larry F. Tolerson of Woodstock, GA, along with Jesse Tolerson III of Kokomo, IN and Barbara C. Tolerson of Newport, Arkansas, who preceded him in death.
Jerry graduated from W. F. Branch High School, Newport, Arkansas. Early in his career, he worked at Brown Jordan manufacturing and served as a police officer on the Newport Police department. After moving to Kokomo, Indiana, he was employed by Chrysler Automotive Corporation for 30 years prior to retiring and was a member of UAW local chapter 685. Jerry enjoyed a simple life loving to listen to music, watching movies, gardening and he loved nice cars.
Also, preceding Jerry in death was his wife, Lusanta Tolerson and his stepmother, Jeanette Tolerson, both of Kokomo IN. He is also survived by two sons, Stephan T. Davis (Vickie) of Chester VA and Jeremy W. Tolerson of Fort Worth, TX along with four grandchildren, two stepsisters Darlene Scarborough (Charles), Fonda Pollard (Thomas), and a stepbrother David Washington (Marie), and a sister-in-law Babbie Tolerson all of Kokomo, IN and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He will be sadly missed.
A graveside committal service will be held at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery on September 12, 2026. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, Inc., Kokomo, IN.
