Obituary of John Boll
John Edward Boll, 88, Kokomo, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011, at The Wellington at Kokomo (Greentree). He was born January 21, 1923, in Elwood, to Harry and Mary (Bayer) Boll. On November 4, 1955, he married Betty Stevenson, and she preceded him in death on November 9, 1994. He served in the United States Navy from February 1943 to November 1945 on the USS Casablanca and the USS Solomons. He went on to own several businesses in Kokomo. After retiring, he loved spending time at the American Legion Post 6 and playing golf. He spent the last seven years living in the Greentree Assisted Living apartments, cared for by his loving granddaughter, Jana R. Legan. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Elks, Moose, and the Eagles. He had attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Survivors include his children, John J. Boll, Kokomo, Sam Boll, Avon, William Boll, Kokomo, and Diana and her husband Allan Herec, Theodosia, Missouri; step-daughters, Sandy (Kitts) and her husband Rafa Torres, Malaga, Spain, and Janis Kitts, Indianapolis; son-in-law, Bill Tudor; grandchildren, Jana (Boll) Legan, Lindsey Pierce, Samantha Lynn Rich, Chad Tudor, and Diego and Veronica Torres; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and his best friend, his dog, Mr. D. In addition to his wife, Betty Boll, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth (Boll) Tudor. Special thanks to the staff at The Wellington (Greentree) for all the loving care they provided over the years. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Father Tony Rowland officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made, in John’s memory, to the Alzheimer’s Association.
