John dedicated 34 loyal years to Chrysler before his retirement. He found deep joy in his family, especially in the time he spent with his grandchildren. He also was an avid Purdue football and basketball fan. When he wasn’t watching sports, he was playing softball at Foster Park or basketball at the UAW hall. John enjoyed tinkering around his garage and took pride in his Ram Trucks. He could often be found outside riding his bike. He was a regular at local restaurants with Ducky's, Doc's, and Ray's Drive Inn among his go-to places. John had a short list of essentials: Coca-Cola and a bag of Lay's potato chips.
He is survived by his children Rita Ennis, John Ennis Jr., James Ennis, Donald Ennis (Ginger), John Ennis III, Ryan Ennis, Travis Ennis, Matthew Ennis (Tiffany), and Joel Fink. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and brother Gail Ennis Jr. (Helen).
In addition to his parents John is preceded in death by his brothers Benjamin Ennis, Joe Ealy, Harold Ealy, and Ronald Ennis.
A visitation for John will take place on September 11, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Rd. Kokomo, IN 46902. The family encourages guests to dress casually.
