He was born on September 27, 1933, in Montpelier, Indiana, the son of John Walter and Mildred Virginia (Whalen) Kingsolver.
During a leave from the United States Navy, he met his future wife, Martha Genevieve (Genny) (Tucker) Kingsolver, and promptly told a friend that she was the girl for him. They married on December 24, 1958.
Bob worked in construction and various trade jobs before beginning a long career as a skilled millwright at Chrysler, where he worked until his retirement. Outside of work, he enjoyed designing, welding, and fixing things for himself, his friends, and his neighbors. He dearly loved singing songs of worship and praise and was a devoted member of the Church of Christ for many years.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Genny; his children, Tammy Iles of Bloomington, Robert Allan (Missy) Kingsolver of Kokomo, and Kerry Kingsolver of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Kelcey Carmickle, Parker Iles, Carri Schmidt, James Iles, Clay Kingsolver, Amanda Gordon, Drake Ruelas, Jake Ruelas, Tristan Kingsolver, Amiyah Kingsolver, Dakota Curtis, Macknezy Frazier, and Madison Frazier; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Imogene Winters, Betty Russell, and Virginia Kingsolver; his grandson, Jonathan Kingsolver; and his great-grandson, Carson King.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by Military Honors at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery in Kokomo, Indiana. Entombment will follow immediately. Share a memory with the family online at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
