

John David Yaste, 82, Fishers, Indiana, and formerly of Cape Coral, Florida, went home to be with his heavenly father on September 13, 2022. He was born on September 5th,1940 in Edinburgh, Indiana, the son of Wendell Yaste and Virginia (Yaste) Baker. John married Patty Lou Cole in 1960 and celebrated 55 years of marriage together.
John grew up in Edinburgh, graduating from Edinburgh High School. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge and loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a long-time active member of St. George Lutheran Church in Edinburgh. He was co-owner of Yaste & Yaste Grocery with his Father in Franklin, Indiana until 1975. He continued his career in food sales/management with Stark & Wetzel, Oscar Meyer, and Taurus Foods in Indiana, later relocating to Florida where he concluded his career with Sara Lee and Publix Supermarkets.
In 2013 for health reasons John and his wife relocated back to Indiana to be closer to family. After Patty’s death in 2016, John moved to Northridge Retirement home in Fishers, Indiana where he was a great Bean Bag Baseball competitor. There he met Frances Conger and the two became great friends.
John loved his food, especially getting the opportunity to eat out. He was always up for a trip to Greenwood to stay with his son Jon and go fishing. He also loved watching sports as he was an avid Colts fan. John resided at Allisonville Meadows Assisted Living in Fishers where he enjoyed watching TV and sports with his friend Frances.
John is survived by his friend Frances Conger; daughter & son-in-law Melanie (Yaste) & Craig Edling, Evansville, IN; his sons & daughters in law; David & Anne Yaste, Noblesville, IN, Jon & Missy Yaste, Greenwood, IN; Ten Grand Children; Steven Edling, Damian Edling, Philip Edling & Ashton, Abigail (Yaste) & Spencer Faulkner, Brianna Hettinger, Troy Yaste, Megan Yaste and Morgan Yaste. Five Great Grandchildren; River Edling, Smith Edling, Ollie Edling, Audio Edling, and Finnigan Edling.
John was preceded in death by his parents Virginia Baker and Wendell Yaste, his wife Patty and a son Brett Yaste.
At John’s request there will be no public service. The family will hold a private memorial service at a future date.
