Obituary of Johnny H. Jackson Sr.
Johnny H. Jackson Sr., age 81, of Kokomo, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was the son of the late Albert T. Jackson and Novella (Hogan) Edington, born on October 28, 1940 in Kokomo, In. He married Jacqueline (Brown) Jackson on December 4, 2015, and she survives. Johnny graduated from Kokomo High School in 1958. He worked briefly for Chrysler before working 32 years for General Motors, Delco Radio Division, where he retired in 1993. He loved cooking, especially "wild game", traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Johnny was also passionate about his health and enjoyed weight lifting. He was a regular at the YMCA for many years, where he enjoyed helping others train. After Johnny and Jacqueline united in marriage in 2015, they started attending Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. He was later baptized at the church by Pastor L.E. Anderson on August 14, 2016. Johnny was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jacqueline;daughter Darla (Ed) Mattingly; son, Johnny Jackson Jr.; grandsons, DeJuan Jackson and Isaac Jackson; granddaughter, Jodie Murphy; great-grandson, Jay'vier Murphy; step-children, Jermaine (Heather) Jenkins Jr., Gregory Sykes, Jordan Sykes, Jeremy Williams, Gabrielle Sykes, Myisha Sykes; nineteen step great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald and Thomas (Vanessa); special brother, Eddie Bethea Jr.; sisters, Evelyn, Yvonne, Brenda (Jimmy), and Angela; special nephew, Brad Fowler; aunt, Lenora Hogan Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and coworkers. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Douglas (Iola) Hogan Sr.; brothers, Nathaniel, Albert, James, Robert, Raymond, and Gary; sisters, Marcia Campbell, Roberta Jackson, and Beverly Craine; brother-in-law, Clarence Campbell; nephew, Ronald Campbell; niece, Adrian Jackson; uncles, Jesse Hogan, Douglas Hogan, Robert Hogan Sr., Russell Hogan Sr., and William Hogan; aunts, Lawrene Waggoner and Pearl Ellison. There will be a time of visitation for Johnny H. Jackson Sr. on Thursday, January 27, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo.
