Joseph Swope

Joseph Marvin Swope, 87, Round Rock, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Our House of Central Texas. He was born November 27, 1925 in Howard County to Elmer and Frances (Perkins) Swope. On October 20, 1966, he married Ione (Hareng) Swope. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2003.

Joseph retired from Delco Electronics in 1986 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, fishing and playing cards. Joseph will always be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor and the love he had for his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Mick (Cathy) Swope; grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Swope; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Josephine Griffith, Beulah Mitchell Wilson, Eileen Swope, Julia Achor; and his brothers Glenn Swope and Malen Swope.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Messages of condolence may be expressed online at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
