Obituary of Judy Lee Collins
Judy Lee Collins, 82, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. She was born to Stanley A. Ives and Mary V. (Kiser) Ives on November 10, 1937. Judy was a 1955 graduate of Kokomo High School. On July 6, 1957, in Oakford, she married the love of her life, Sammy A. Collins, and together they raised two children. Judy always held a special place in her heart for children and it was this love that led her to become the director of the Indian Heights Baptist Church Daycare and to establish and direct the Oakford Baptist Church Daycare (now, Crossroads Learning Corner) before retiring in 1999. Sam and Judy loved traveling together and spending time with family and friends. Judy enjoyed ceramics, listening to gospel music, and playing cards with loved ones. Those who knew Judy would describe her as kind and patient with a giving heart. Together, Sam and Judy were a wonderful example of what love and marriage should look like. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, a stillborn son named Gary, and three angel babies. She is survived by her brother Larry Ives (Marlis), son Stan Collins (Sarah), daughter Candy Smith (Jeff), granddaughters Kara Neal (Kevin Bailey) and Cheryl Collins, grandsons Bryan Smith and Josh Solomon (Tami), great-grandchildren Reilley, Genevieve, Harrison, Natalie, Samantha, Hannah, Kandi, Sabrina, and Jordan, uncle Richard Kiser, sisters in law Tressie Smith and Minnie Weaver, and brother in law Norman Collins (Sonya). Services for Judy will take place Monday evening December 16, 2019, with public visitation from 4pm to 6pm and the service beginning at 6pm at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel; 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, IN, 46902 with Pastor Chadwick Collins officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Point Cemetery Tuesday morning at 11am at Crown Point cemetery.
