Kathryn Irene Ogle, 89, of Greentown, Indiana, passed into eternal life at 3:45am on June 3, 2026, at Century Villa Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born November 10, 1936, in Lima, Ohio, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Arthur Smith and Gwendolyn Smith.
Kathryn attended South High School in Lima. On June 4, 1955, she married Jack L. Ogle at St. John’s Catholic church in Lima, and together they raised five children. In 1964, they moved to Kokomo, Indiana, when Jack took a job at Chrysler. Through the years, Kathryn and Jack shared many trips together, including visits to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and Florida—times that reflected a quiet gratitude for life’s blessings and the steady devotion that anchored their home.
A gifted cake baker and decorator for 20 years, Kathryn brought care and patience to her craft, shaping celebrations with a gentle touch and a spirit that made others feel remembered. Her presence was a comfort—soft-spoken, steady, and deeply cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Kathryn was a faithful member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society Group, where she valued the fellowship of friends and the simple, reverent rhythm of praying the rosary together. Her life reflected a sincere faith, and she carried a God-given joy that quietly lifted the people around her. In her later years, she loved watching the birds and squirrels from her chair in the dining room.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Smith; her mother, Gwendolyn Smith; her husband, Jack L Ogle; her sisters, Dorothy, Barbara, and Ida; her brothers, Clifford and James Smith; her grandson, Nathan Ogle; and her great-grandson, Jacob Shockley.
She is survived by her children, Tina Miller (Carlos), Mark Ogle (Fara), Daniel Ogle (Jerry), Donald Ogle (Robin), and Kathleen Wolfe (Mark); Greg Hendershot, whom she loved like a son; and by her grandchildren, Amanda Shockley, Jackie Doughty, Kristina Martin, Drew Miller, Dustin Ogle, Briana Ogle, Alisha Crick, Daniel Ogle, Jr., Carly Ritter, and Maggie Ogle, as well as several great and great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks go to her life-long friends, Ron and Mary Runyon, for their constant love and friendship.
