Lisa Marie (Turner) Hawthorne, age 54, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at her home in Kokomo. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 10, 1964 to the late Charles Robert Turner and Lila Rarey (Hall) Turner.
Lisa was raised in the Twin Cities area. She spent four years living in Belgium during her youth but later returned to the Twin Cities, and earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. In 1987 she was married to Jeff Hawthorne in Minneapolis. Lisa and Jeff had three boys together, and later divorced.
She spent many years working as a service professional in information technology around Kokomo, Indiana. She was a very caring mother and would do anything for her sons. She would always call and ask if they needed anything even when she didn’t have much to give. She also loved to bake, and would always send loads of cookies and treats during the holidays. She was known by those in her community as a kind and caring lady. She loved to sit outside with her dog and talk to people as they came by.
She loved her dog Daisy. She would make hand knitted sweaters for Daisy during the cold winter months. She had a large supply of doggie treats, doggie boots and a ton of matching outfits for her. She also loved to crochet, sew blankets, and read. She will be greatly missed by her three sons, and her community.
Lisa is survived by her sons, Josh Hawthorne of Newport Beach, CA, Jake Hawthorne and Jesse Hawthorne of Champlin, MN and sisters, Carol Meyer of Rosemount, MN, Patricia Peterson of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Laura Avenell of Hillsboro, OR. We all miss you!
There will be a celebration of life for Lisa held on October 20th, 2019 in the Twin Cities area. The event is still being planned, please get in touch with Josh, Jake, or Jesse for details.
