Marilyn Sue Bookmiller, a beloved resident of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on December 17, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 13, 1941, Marilyn led a life full of love, joy, and dedication to her family and community.
Marilyn was a devoted hairstylist for over 30 years, making a significant impact on her clients with her talent and warmth. Her career was marked by her commitment to excellence and her ability to bring joy to those she served.
In her personal life, Marilyn was known for her adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. She frequently could be found fishing and boating. In her younger years she enjoyed water skiing. Marilyn cherished her time spent in Florida during the winter months, where she was active in the community, attending dances and bingo. She was also a fan of the show Survivor, which brought her much entertainment.
Marilyn was a great cook, a skill that she lovingly shared with her family and friends. Her culinary talents were a testament to her nurturing nature and her desire to bring people together.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Halmage; her mother, Viola Halmage; and her husband, Tim Bookmiller. She is survived by her son, Tony Richards; her daughter, Jill Williams; her stepchild, Shannon Wilson; her grandchildren, Casey Williams, Ashley Richards, and Toni Wilson; her great-granddaughter, Viola Williams; her sister, Sandy Smith; and her brother, Joe Halmage (Beverly).
A visitation will be held on December 21, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Ellers Mortuary, located at 725 S. Main Street, Kokomo, Indiana. The funeral service will follow on December 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the same location. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Crown Point Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 920 N Washington St, Kokomo, IN 46901, in honor of Marilyn's memory.
