Mark R. Ault, 95, passed away at 4:30 AM on October 31, 2017 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. Born near Bennetts Switch, he was the son of Alba C. and Crystal G. (Clem) Ault. He graduated from Clay Township High School in 1941 and later from Business College in Kokomo, Indiana.
Mark served with the 12th Armored Division in the European Theater of Operation, 7th army, 43 Tank Battalion in Office Payroll and with the 2nd Armored Division as a recruiting officer during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant on February 4, 1946.
On June 12, 1948, he married the love of his life, Anna Remis, who preceded him in death on May 29, 2013. He and Ann attended Beamer Methodist Church, Main Street United Methodist Church, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Mark worked at Ladd Soy Bean Company near Bunker Hill and later at Cuneo Press in Kokomo until it was sold to World Color. He and Ann then moved to Salem, Illinois where Mark worked for World Color until he retired and returned to Kokomo. Mark and Ann enjoyed traveling. They toured Japan, China, and revisited the European countries of WWII. To celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, they were accompanied by several friends on a tour of Australia and New Zealand. They also attended the yearly reunions of the 12th Armored Division and hosted the hospitality room. As a unit representative, Mark wrote a monthly column for the Division Newsletter, the Hellcat News.
Daily, Mark could be found reading his Bible and applying God’s teachings to his life. He gave of himself to others. He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, and managed several League Baseball teams. Mark volunteered for numerous organizations. As a resident of Wellbrooke, Mark worked with the staff to start a weekly Bible study for residents.
Surviving Mark are sister, Patty Ault; nephews Jim (Vickie) Oaks and Mike (Linda) Goldsberry; nieces Mabel Jo Hillman and Mary Ann Oaks; and cousins Ray (Norma) Ault and David (Cecilia) Ault.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM, officiated by Pastor Duane Carlisle, also at the mortuary. Mark will be laid to rest at Kokomo Memorial Park.
