Mary grew up in Michigan, graduating from Onsted High School in 1958. On July 25, 1958, she wed Stanley F. Harsh, and the couple moved to Kokomo, Indiana, in October of the same year. Although she worked briefly when she first moved to Kokomo, Mary quickly chose to be a stay-at-home Mom when her children came along. As such, she occupied her time by crocheting, sewing, restoring old family furniture, wallpapering, and gardening. For a few years, she joined a local women’s bowling league at Cedar Crest Lanes. She was a loyal supporter of her children and later her grandchildren who were involved in band and athletics. Mary and Stan loved to travel…stateside, that is, and always with a camper in tow. Through the years, she visited 41 states (including Hawaii). She even took a Caribbean cruise with her husband and several church friends.
Mary was a member of Bible Baptist Church for 67 years, and through the years, she served in the church as a nursery worker and a bus driver for Vacation Bible School. Plus, she was regularly involved with the church’s Primetimers group which often traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to see dramatic productions of Biblical stories performed at the Sight and Sound Theatre.
Mary is survived by her three children Judy Weirauch, David (Beth) Harsh, Debbie Harsh; eight grandchildren Daniel (Trelanie) Weirauch, Rachel (Kyle) Prine, Michael (Courtney) Weirauch, Rebecca (Alex Llamas) Irrgang, Nicholas (Rachel) Harsh, Jacob (Megan) Harsh, Christopher (Jaclyn) Harsh, and Mason Harsh; two great-granddaughters Harmony Davis and Journey Davis; five great-grandsons Lucas Llamas, Calvin Harsh, Lewis Harsh, Roman Harsh, and Callum Weirauch; five siblings Donna Sallows, Sharon Heisler, Bill (Judy) Mason, Tom (Sue) Mason, and Sally (Clark) Freese; one brother-in-law Daniel (Carolyn) Harsh; and cousins, nieces, nephews, and a loving church family.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Stanley Harsh; parents Wilbur Mason and Glendora Mason; three nephews Greg Heisler, Michael Mason, Bob Yoder; three nieces Janelle Mason, Sheila Austin, and Susan Beaverson; a brother-in-law and his wife Jim (Charline) Harsh; and a sister-in-law and her husband Ruby (Harold) Crowell.
