Mary Ellen Scheiman

Mary Ellen Scheiman, 96, of Kokomo passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Reflections Memory Care in Kokomo. She was born May 21, 1918 in Rockford, Ohio to the late Glenn Hays and Grace (Irey) Hays. On July 27, 1940, she married Fred A. Scheiman, and he preceded her in death May 12, 1993.

She graduated from Rockford Ohio High School and then from Marian Business College in 1936. She worked as secretary at State Farm Insurance and was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Monticello.

Mary Ellen is survived by two sons Mike Scheiman (Susi), Kokomo, and Richard Scheiman (Maria), Russiaville; daughters, Judy Seitz (Phil), Scottsdale, Arizona, and Patty Ellis (Steve), Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Kristina Scheiman, Joe Scheiman, Heath Scheiman, Katie Seitz, Michael Seitz, Patrick Scheiman, Maggie Hulet, Christopher Ellis and Jayne Ellis; and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Jerry Scheiman; and two brothers, Milton Hays and Dick Hays.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Reflections Memory Care and Southern Care Hospice.

The funeral service will be noon Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Pastor George Silavs officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.
