

Melvin Keith McCain, 85, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; formerly of Kokomo passed away at 6:54 AM Tuesday December 18, 2018 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born December 5, 1933 in Connersville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Raymond D. McCain and Frances (Tresler) McCain. On November 10, 1956 in Taunton, MA, he married Madeleine Harnois, and she preceded him in death on October 20, 2003. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was an electrician, working for Haynes International for over 20 years before retiring. He was a member of the VFW Post #1152, American Legion Post #6, and the Eagles Lodge of Kokomo.
Survivors include two sons Robert McCain of Marion, Indiana, Daniel McCain of Peru, Indiana; two daughters Donna Siler of Peru, Indiana, and Laurie (Steve) Reed of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one half-sister Barbara Sweet; six grandchildren Jason Siler, Jackson Reed, Benjamin McCain, Nicholas Reed, Johnathon McCain, and Ravionna McCain; and one great grandchild Isabella Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, also several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday December 22, 2018 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor Richard Hartman will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the Kokomo Military Rites Team at 12:00 Noon Saturday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday at the mortuary. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date at Albright Cemetery, Kokomo. Memorials may be directed to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana with Envelopes available at the mortuary.
