I loved working with Mitch because he saw people as much more than just co-workers.  Mitch would often go out of his way, by staying 15mins after a meeting was over or walking halfway across the plant, just to give me a few words of encouragement or support.  Mitch had a special way of listening that made me feel like I mattered and I will be forever grateful that I was blessed with the opportunity to work alongside such a wonderful man.

I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around the loss of Mitch.  Although we never really stayed in touch throughout the years, we did spend a lot of time together in the summers in high school playing basketball at foster park and then in high school ball.  We would spend endless hours during the hot summer days practicing our skills at foster park then play games in the evening when everyone would show up as well as Mark and Mike.  I remember him and I took a Greyhound bus to the family lake cottage in high school and spent several days fishing and swimming for a couple days
( maybe had a few cold ones too).  He definitely was the prankster.  My condolences to the family and prayers for peace in your loss.

The neighborhood lost a good one. Always a smile and a hello, between shooting baskets, walking the dogs or piddling around in the yard. Going to miss watching him enjoy life from my porch, as he always had a smile and a kind word. I spend lots of time outside, as did he, so I’ll definitely miss seeing him out and about. Prayers for the family, he’s really going to be missed.

I could always count on a smile and some friendly words from Mitch when seeing him outside playing basketball with the boys or walking his dog. He always had a smile and was so neighborly (you and the boys as well).

Mitch was a great friend and classmate to me. The Herr house was across West Sycamore Street from 1110 where my mother grew up next door to the Sieberling Mansion. Two older brothers, Mark and Mike. All were great basketball players at KHS. Mitch was my classmate other than sixth through eighth grade. The middle school dividing line between Lafayette and Pettit Park was Phillips Street. Mitch played Little League baseball for the Coca Cola Cokes at UCT Park. He once shoved a large pencil eraser up his nose at McKinley Elementary school and had to go to the emergency room to have it removed. He also made a kick ball game shot in the opposite end basket inside the Charles V. Orr Gymnasium there. Mitch was the most successful kid in Mrs. Kilgore's fifth grade class with the girls behind the "kissing tree", a huge Sycamore along the Wildcat Creek in the school yard. Rest in Peace, my friend. You will be sorely missed.

So sorry to hear of Mitch’s passing. You probably don’t remember, but I remember playing in the UAW playground during family reunions with all three of you. Your grandfather (George) was my fathers older brother. I used to love watching you guys play basketball in memorial gym.

I'm so sorry and praying for you all.  Mitch was one of a kind.  I really don't know what to say.  Mitch was outwardly athletic, funny and a bit goofy but also inside very sensitive, caring, humble.  Many did not see him as introspective and a deep thinker, but he was.  And he was influential on so many people in his humble, quiet, and sometimes quirky example.  Words aren’t sufficient to describe Mitch or his impact.  You had to know him.  I’m honored and glad I did but just wish it had been for a few more years.  Mitch loved you all and he told me often about your many accomplishments and projects.  And he still loves you.  Mitch is now in the place of perfect full love.

Dear sweet Kelly Goodnight Herr. I was so sorry to hear of Mitch’s passing…although I didn’t know him,  as well as I remember you, I’ve always heard such nice things about him. I was always so fond of you and your family during your growing up years. So very sorry to hear about Mitch.  I worked with him at Delphi for awhile, and he was always easy to work with, good at sharing responsibilities  and just a pleasure to be around.  He was always so proud of his family.  What a sad loss to the community.

We shared so many fun times together in a youth baseball dugout—the place you proudly called the “Enthusiasm Chamber.” That name perfectly captured the energy, encouragement, and joy you brought to every game.

You connected with and impacted so many young players, coaches, and families. Your enthusiasm was contagious, and the memories you created will remain with all of us who were fortunate enough to share the field with you.

You will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and everyone whose life you touched.

I'm sorry to hear of Mitch's passing.
He was my first supervisor when I started working at the Kokomo Transmission Plant in 2011.
I would start my day off talking to Mitch every day and having coffee with him. He would tell me about Declan's basketball games and football games. He would also tell me how his sons were doing along with his wife Kelly. Mitch also would tell me what he was going to cook for dinner, and he always cooked a nice dinner on Sundays.
A few years ago, he started making candies during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. He would bring some of the candies to work for me to try. Mitch was a good friend, Father, and Husband. 
He will be missed by all that knew him.
