Nancy E. Caster
June 6, 1934-February 22, 2013
On February 22, 2013, at 10 a.m., the gates of Heaven opened and welcomed Nancy E. Caster into the loving arms of God. She was born on June 6, 1934, in Kokomo, to Allen and Jane (Jarrell) Arbuckle.
She graduated from Kokomo High School and worked at Haynes International for thirty years before retiring. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She inspired all who met her with her determination and perseverance. She survived cancer twice and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease several years ago. She always wanted to go to college, and after retiring, she did. She earned her Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree, and her Masters Degree, all with honors, from Indiana University of Kokomo and was going to take classes for her PhD, but she was not able to because of declining health. She was proof that nothing is impossible if you believe and want it enough. Nothing stopped her, health, age or circumstances. She persevered to the end, never giving up. One of her goals in life was to become a motivational speaker on never letting anything stop you from achieving your goals. She was an artist specializing in painting in oils. She had a great sense of humor, loved animals and enjoyed movies, but most of all, she loved learning. She would say that her greatest joy in life was her daughter, Kimberly, who was there with her through it all.
Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly A. Stephenson, Kokomo, and three sisters, Georgianna Coe, Texas, Susan Pickard, Kokomo, and Rebecca Bagwell, Kokomo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be private with Rev. Harold Williams officiating. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or to the funeral home on behalf of the family. Messages of condolence may be expressed online at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
