

Norma Diane Braswell, 80, Kokomo, Indiana passed away on March 16, 2022 after a 26 year battle with breast cancer. She was born on April 17, 1941 in Lafayette, IN the daughter of Kenneth Miller and Evelyn Miller (Shaffer). She grew up on her family farm in Frankfort, Indiana. Diane graduated from Frankfort High School in 1959 before attending Ball State to Major in Math and Minor in English, later earning a Master's degree in Math Education from Purdue University. After graduating she moved to California to teach high school math in Bakersfield where she quickly met her husband, Robert. Diane and Robert were married on August 8, 1964 in Geetingsville, Indiana. She taught at Clinton Central High School before moving to Kokomo and teaching at Northwestern.
In 1968 Diane put her career on hold to raise her family and returned to work for EDS in 1985 before retiring in 2007 to take on her most fulfilling job as a math tutor for her grandchildren. She loved planning family trips and traveling between Indiana and Alabama to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Diane put her life on hold for four years to make sure that her husband, Robert received the care he needed after a serious health issue. She enjoyed playing cards with family, friends, and her ladies' poker group.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Rebecca (Brian) LaGrave of Moulton, AL; son, Christopher (Susan) Braswell of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren, Hannah D.(Luke) Mooney, Samuel Raydon LaGrave, Daniel LaGrave, Clara Braswell, Sarah (Noah)Comans, Jillian Braswell; three great grandsons, Caleb, Silas and Jedediah Mooney; brother, Dwain (Connie) Miller of Frankfort; in-laws, Thomas (Shirley) Braswell of McAlester, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her friends and neighbors who helped in various ways to ensure that she received the care she needed.
She was preceded in death by parents; her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Raydon Braswell; and infant brother.
Visitation will be 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, Kokomo, IN. Share a memory with the family at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
