

Norma Virginia Hiteshew, 93, of Beavercreek, Ohio, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 6:45 PM Tuesday April 24, 2018 at Traditions of Beavercreek, Ohio. Born October 2, 1924 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of the late George W. Hartmann and Edythe M. (Pugh) Hartmann. Norma attended Kokomo High School and graduated from Clay Township High School in 1942. She then attended the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Kokomo, graduating in 1945. On December 9, 1945 in Kokomo, she married Richard F. Hiteshew, and he survives. Always beside her husband who served in the U.S Navy, she lived in several Indiana cities from 1924 to 1962 where she worked for Dr. Good, ENT in 1945. She then moved to California from 1962 to 1976 where she was Director of Nursing at Casa Bonita Convalescent Hospital in Pleasant Hill, California. They then were transferred to Dakar, Senegal, West Africa, where she worked as an Embassy nurse in the health unit at the U.S. Embassy from 1976 to 1979. From there she lived in Ft. Washington, Maryland from 1976 to 1982. She came back to Kokomo in 1982 until 2017 when they moved to Ohio to be close to family. She was a member of St. Joseph Hospital Alumni Association, Women's Missionary Service Guild, and Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
Survivors include her husband of over 72 years, Richard F. Hiteshew of Beavercreek; one son Douglas Alan Hiteshew of Greenwood; two daughters Elaine Diane Kitchin of Medway, Ohio and Rebecca Sue Berndsen of Woodbridge, Virginia. There are also six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Kevin Lee Hiteshew and Mark Richard Hiteshew, and one brother Ronald Joe Hartman.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 30, 2018 at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 E. Southway Blvd, Kokomo. Pastor William Allison will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday at the church.
