Paul David Newport, age 67, passed away at his home in Kokomo on November 5, 2019. Paul was born on January 4, 1952 in Kokomo to Marjorie (Norris) Newport and the late Paul V. Newport. After graduating from Western High School, Paul earned his Journeyman Electrician license, and then worked as an electrician at the Chrysler plant in Kokomo for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. In February on 1981, Paul was married to Denise Newport. They later divorced, and she has preceded him in passing. Paul had belonged to Kokomo Christian Heritage Church. He was an avid motorcycle rider, and enjoyed taking extended road trips on his Harley. He also enjoyed many side jobs, which included carpentry, glass etching, and being a tinkerer (he could fix anything!). When he wasn’t working, Paul kept himself occupied by doing crossword puzzles, and finding ways to make others laugh. In addition to his mother, Marjorie Newport, Paul is survived by his daughters, Amanda Newport and Lindsay (Spiro) Papagiannis; brother, Steve Newport; sister, Rosanna (Newport) Harbin; grandson, Branden Newport; and three nieces. There will be a celebration of life service for Paul on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the UAW Hall, located at 929 E. Hoffer St., Kokomo, IN 46902. Paul’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kokomo Humane Society to celebrate his reuniting with his dog of over 15 years, Elvis.
