Priscilla "Pris" Ann Beck

Pris graduated from Western High School. She met Charles Beck during a backyard football game. That led to a marriage of 57 years. Pris married Charles on March 29, 1969 ( The Summer of Love ).

Pris devoted much of her life to being a loving wife and mother. Her legacy continues in the life she nurtured and the family bonds she strengthened, including the joy of being a Mamaw.

Her working years reflected both skill and versatility. She worked at Essex in Flora; Delco and Kroger in Kokomo. While at Kroger she became a certified cake decorator and used that talent to have special cakes for family events.

Pris found happiness in the simple pleasure: fishing on the lake and camping in tents under the open skies. She had a special place in her heart for hummingbirds. She lured the tiny birds back every year by making her homemade hummingbird food. She loved family gatherings and took comfort in music and cooking. Her specialty was a homemade BBQ sauce made from scratch that the family and friends fought to get.

Her sense of community was evident in the groups she chose to stand with and serve through. Pris was a member of the FOP, American Legion, and the VFW. She poured care into young lives as a Cub Scout leader and her son's Den Mother. In addition, Pris was a member of the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department. In her role as and EMT, she brought calm and readiness at moments when those qualities mattered most.

She is survived by her husband Charles Beck, Children Annissa R. Freeman, Ryan A. (Tasha) Beck; grandchildren Hunter A. Beck and Nico Arnett; step-grandchildren Desiree White, Derrick Deford, and Jeremy Deford; 3 great grandchildren and 8 Step great grandchildren; siblings Mickey Droke and Candace Craig. There are also several surviving nieces and nephews. Pris had a special niece (Leslie) whom was also a very good friend.

Pris is preceded in death by her parents Ralph Droke and Mary Lou Droke; sister Kathleen Porter; as well as her mother-in-law and father-in-law.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
