Ralph Frederic (“Fred”) Beck passed away on November 9, 2018, following a prolonged illness; he was 84. A longtime resident of Sharpsville, Indiana, Fred is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ann (Faulstich); his two children, Troy Frederic Beck (Elwood) and Tara Lynne Becsey (Indianapolis); his son-in-law, David Douglas Becsey; his two grandchildren, Amerika Lynne Becsey and Jacob David Becsey; and his great grandson, Kaine Douglas Becsey. Fred is also survived by his sister, Beverly Jean Gish (Michigan), and is predeceased by his parents, Ralph Raymond and Mary Hannah Beck.
After graduating from Tipton High School, Fred enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country overseas during the Korean War. Fred attended Ball State, as well as Purdue University, where, as a freshman, he was the Three-Cushion Billiards Champion in the 1960 Intercollegiate Billiard Tournament and had the opportunity to play billiards with Willie Mosconi.
Fred was an avid reader; he enjoyed golfing and playing pool and cards. He retired from Delco (Kokomo) several years ago, where he worked as a skilled tradesman.
His family wishes to mourn his passing privately but invites others to remember Fred and pray that he rest in peace.
