Randy graduated from Tates Creek High School, where he was the Salutatorian of his graduating class. He attended University of Kentucky for two years and later graduated from Ball State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
For more than 40 years, Randy devoted himself to his profession as a CPA, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike through steady diligence and principled work. He began his career in Kokomo at a local CPA firm and, in the early 1990s, established his own accounting practice—an achievement reflecting both commitment and quiet determination. He was a member of the Indiana CPA Society and the Kokomo Chamber of Commerce.
Outside of work, Randy found enjoyment and fellowship in the pursuits he loved. An avid golfer since his teen years, he carried that lifelong interest with him through the seasons of his life. He also spent time as a member of a bowling league at Don Lowry Lanes.
Randy also gave generously of his time to the Kokomo community. As one of the five original members of the Kokomo Jaycees, he helped shape a local civic leadership organization dedicated to service. He sponsored and coached youth basketball at Carver Community Center and coached youth baseball for both Southside and Taylor leagues, offering young people not only instruction in the game, but also the steady guidance of an engaged adult who cared. In the 1990s, Randy was a member of the PAR Church.
Above all, Randy loved his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Randy is survived by his sons, Brandon Grimes (Jennifer) and Jordan Grimes (Denise); grandchildren, Skylar Grimes, Jaydon Grimes, Allayna Grimes, Kaydence Grimes, and Easton Grimes; great grandchild, Zayden Grimes; siblings, Teri Grimes and Bruce Grimes; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick Grimes and Wesley Grimes; his father, William R. Grimes; and his mother, Kathleen J. (Banks) Grimes.
Randy's family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
