

Raymond Marvin Day, 79, of Kokomo, passed away at 4:25 PM Monday December 26, 2016 at his residence. Born July 1, 1937 in Howard County, he was the son of the late Roscoe Day and Lucille (Sapp) Day. On March 17, 1959, in Kokomo, he married Ramona M. (May), and she survives. He was employed as a newspaper carrier for the Kokomo Tribune, then worked for Continental Steel for 31 years. He later worked for Sears for 13 years. He loved gardening and whatever he grew in his garden, he would give away. He also enjoyed woodworking. He was an avid Kokomo Wildkat fan and I.U. Fan. He also wrote an editorial for the Saturday edition of the Kokomo Tribune. He loved all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ramona M. Day of Kokomo; one son Johnny (Elsa) McKee of Fishers; one daughter Deborah Day of Kokomo; one brother John P. Day of Kokomo; one sister Wanda (Frank) Schmidlin of Kokomo; one sister-in-law Mary Kay (Steve) McGowen of Frankfort. There are also two grandchildren Amanda (Mark) Blankenburger and Matthew (Ashby) Englert; six great grandchildren Evan, Audrey, Tyler, Ethan, Braylen, and Raegan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Patricia (Day) Englert, and several brothers and several sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday December 30, 2016 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor David Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the mortuary.
