Richard Lee Cassis

Richard Lee Cassis, 92, of Kokomo passed away peacefully Friday January 6th, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Marietta, OH on September 19, 1930, the son of the late Alex and Helen (Bacela) Cassis. Richard was married to Barbara Cassis, and she preceded him in death in 2017.

Richard attended Kokomo High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War from 1951-1954. During this time in the Navy he received the following: Good Conduct Medal (4 stars), United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon and China Service Medal. Richard was a 50 year member of The American Legion Howard Lodge #93.

Richard was the owner of Cass Package Liquor from 1960-2007. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, golf and playing cards with his many friends at the Kokomo Country Club.

Richard is survived by his children David (Sheryl) Cassis and Amy Treend; grandchildren, Sophie Treend, Ethan Treend, Masin Cassis and Lucie Cassis; sister-in-law, Jane Cassis.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Alex and Helen Cassis; wife, Barbara Cassis; siblings Betty (John) Eklem, Ronald (Pat) Cassis and Robert Cassis.

According to Richard’s wishes he will be cremated and no public services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to St. Andrews Episcopal Church 602 West Superior St. Kokomo, IN 46901. Share a memory with the family at www.Ellersmortuary.com.
